Hepatitis D (HDV), the most severe form of viral hepatitis, is endemic in various Asian regions, yet its global prevalence remains understated due to diagnostic challenges. To address this knowledge gap, Prof Saeed Hamid, Consultant Gastroenterologist at Pakistan’s Aga Khan University, proposes a multi-faceted approach, comprising testing modalities for large-scale screening and diagnosis, alongside innovative, experimental therapeutic strategies for HDV management.
