In recent years, there has been a push in Chinese laboratories to reach a standardised set of benchmarks for test results. China’s large population and scattered resources mean that patients would often visit several doctors and get tested at a variety of locations. To ensure the best patient outcomes, Prof A Xiang Ren, Director of Qinghai Clinical Laboratory Center, is an advocate of mutual recognition of results, and how it can be done so with informatisation.
