Standardising anticoagulant dosing via D-Dimer: experiences from a Chinese hospital

Despite the availability of new anticoagulant drugs, direct oral anticoagulants like warfarin and heparin remain the most used in the world. Anticoagulation drug dosing and management are critical for the prevention, treatment and reduction of thrombotic episodes in patients. However, clinical use still varies from practice to practice.

In the hopes of providing standardisation, Professor Zhang Li Tao, Deputy Director of the Laboratory Department at Wuhan Yaxin General Hospital, shares his findings from clinical studies run at his institution showing the effect of varying anticoagulant doses on D-Dimer. In addition to clinical studies, he also shows the current efforts taken in patient management by using digital tools that bridge the gap between clinicians and patients.
