Life after COVID: disease management and diagnostics in the post-pandemic era (RED 2021)

For the past two years, healthcare systems everywhere were preoccupied with COVID-19 management, but as we gradually recalibrate to a new normal, questions arise about what the future will hold. What is the role of hospitals and clinical labs in a world where COVID-19 is endemic? How will we simultaneously meet the growing challenges of both infectious and chronic diseases? And what is the role of digital technology and new remote models of care in a tech-driven future?

In the opening at RED 2021, an annual thought-leadership conference hosted by Roche Diagnostics Asia Pacific, Prof Teo Yik Ying, Dean of the Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health at the National University of Singapore, moderated a wide-ranging conversation on these important questions with a regional panel of experts from the clinical lab, hospital management and digital health communities. The panelists included:

  • Dr Chris Douglas, Medical Director, Histopath Diagnostic Specialists, Australia
  • Mr Anand K, CEO, SRL Diagnostics, India
  • Dr Harish Pillai, CEO, Metro Pacific Hospital Holdings, Philippines
  • Mr Anand Swaminathan, Senior Partner – Leader of McKinsey Digital (Asia), McKinsey & Company, Singapore
  • Prof Teo Yik Ying, Dean, Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health, National University of Singapore, Singapore
