Roche Diagnostics Thailand General Manager, Mihai Irimescu, sat down with Associate Professor Dr Narain Chotirosniramit, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at Chiang Mai University, to discuss the operational excellence of the Maharaj Nakorn University Hospital, which the faculty oversees. The conversation centered on how the high-capacity facility’s commitment to patient-centric care and system-wide improvements ensures the highest quality of service across the entire Northern region of Thailand.
The discussion illuminated a strategic transformation of the hospital’s diagnostic processes, necessitated by resource constraints and overwhelming test volumes. This decisive shift involved the implementation of Total Lab Automation (TLA). By extending beyond the laboratory and into the pre-analytic phase (the blood collection room), this TLA initiative not only improved the patient experience but also reduced pre-analytical errors, ensuring the lab’s maximum performance. By doing so, the hospital successfully prioritised two key objectives: maximising personnel efficiency for quality control and research, and, most importantly, providing every patient with a significantly less stressful and more trustworthy experience.
